Registering Apprentices for EPA when there is more than one version of the same Standard/Assessment Plan

Some apprenticeship standards have more than one version live at the same time. This happens when the standard and/or the assessment plan is updated but there are still apprentices active on the earlier version.

When this happens, it is vital that the apprentices are registered against the correct version of the standard/assessment plan on the OAL Portal (Creatio). If they are not registered against the correct version, then they will be assessed against a plan that they have not been prepared for.

The table below shows the standards (available from OAL) that currently have two live versions. The table details when these versions were live from and when they were closed for new registrations. The registration relates to when they started the programme and were registered on the ILR, NOT when they were registered with OAL.

If you are unsure about which product to register your apprentice against, please use the table below as a guide or contact our customer service team letting them know when your apprentice was registered on the ILR. It is your responsibility to ensure they are registered against the correct version of the Standard/Assessment plan.

Apprentices can switch to a later version of a standard/assessment plan but cannot switch to an earlier version. An apprentice should only switch to a newer version if their training has been delivered against the KSBs and requirements of the new plan and if it would be a disadvantage for them to be assessed against the old plan. In most cases apprentices should finish on the version of the standard/plan they started on.
