As you are now probably aware LEAD are no longer operating as an apprenticeship training provider and if you are registered with LEAD, you are no doubt worried about what will happen to your apprentices.
Whether your apprentices have just started their journey, or they are at gateway and ready for End Point Assessment (EPA) or anywhere in between, try not to worry, there is a solution for you and for them. Some of our FAQs below will answer your concerns and let you know what to do next.
My apprentice(s) has/have just started their apprenticeship with LEAD what happens next?
If your are an Apprenticeship Levy paying organisation you can contact OAL, and we will help direct you to another Training Provider to pick up the apprenticeship programme for your apprentice(s) and continue their training. If you are not an Apprenticeship Levy paying organisation then the Department for Education have set up an emergency email address to provide support. The email address LeanEducation.DEVELOPMENT@education.gov.uk has been set up specifically to help any non-levy paying employers navigate the fallout, following the closure of LEAD.
My apprentice has just gone into gateway or is about to go into gateway having completed all of their learning, what happens to them?
OAL are working closely with the Department for Education to ensure funds are being reserved to pay for your apprentice’s EPA so that they will be able to continue with and complete their apprenticeship. There may be a slight delay whilst things are put in place but be rest assured, we are working hard to ensure that their EPA can go ahead. My apprentice’s EPA was booked but has just been cancelled, due to Lead going out of business, what happens now?
OAL are working closely with the Department for Education to ensure funds are being reserved to pay for your apprentice’s EPA so that they will be able to continue with and complete their apprenticeship. Although your apprentice’s initial EPA booking has been cancelled, one we have worked out a plan with the Department for Education we will contact you to re-schedule and book in your apprentice’s assessments. My apprentice has completed their EPA and we are waiting for their results, what happens to their results and their certificate?
Ordinarily results would be issued through the training provider so we will need alternative contact details to issue results and will also need to know where to instruct the Institute for Apprenticeships (IfATE) as to where to send your apprentice’s certificate. If your apprentice failed any component of their EPA, we will work with you to schedule a re-sit.
My apprentice is halfway/partway through their apprenticeship with LEAD what happens next?
